Hiya! I am back home in California and recuperating from my adventures abroad. The trip was really great overall, I was gone for a little over 3 weeks and visited 4 countries total including the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Hungary.
I don’t know if there’s a good way to re-cap everything I saw and learned, but I thought sharing some of my food photos might be one way. Here are some pictures from one of the first days we spent in Amsterdam. Note: this post is part of the “What I Ate Wednesday” blogger link-up.
Alan and I used points to stay at an American hotel that had a lounge, so we had access to the breakfast buffet. I found fresh fruit, chia seeds, and black tea which was a good start. I was pretty hungry though, so I ended up adding some organic full-fat yogurt with honey for sweetness (I don’t eat dairy that often anymore, so I ended up finding a health food store with coconut yogurt for the next few days):
After breakfast, we started exploring this beautiful city. The canals and the flowers are exquisite:
This is in front of the Rijks Museum:
I have never in my life seen black petunias:
We found a fun cafe to have lunch that even had green juice on the menu. Perfect for helping with jet lag:
I had the Freekeh Bowl that wasn’t gluten- or dairy-free, but full of veggies and hit the spot:
There are a lot of green markets, aka farmers’ markets around town, but I thought this health food store was just adorable:
In addition to the coconut yogurt, I found some hemp milk to supplement the breakfast foods at the hotel. Plus, what’s a visit to Amsterdam without a little hemp product, ha ha:
My friend and I gravitated to the Vietnamese stand:
We shared some spring rolls, again with lots of fresh veggies to make this traveler very happy:
After dinner, my friend suggested I try some local chocolate with a great story behind the product. The packaging alone is enough to make me want to buy some:
Four days in Amsterdam weren’t nearly enough, but our adventures were just getting started. Do you like this re-cap of sorts through food? LMK because I have lots more pictures from the others places I visited!
